got an email from the hombre, said he was drinking at a rooftop bar in Mexico City when he felt the ground shaking... At first he was wondering why he was dizzy from just one tequila, but then he realised it was an earthquake!

I warned him about the tequila
I read that two tall buildings in Mexico City actually knocked together - now that would be scary!
Glad to hear he's OK.

MEXICO CITY — A powerful earthquake shook Mexico City late Tuesday, sending residents spilling into the streets and knocking out power to large swaths of the city.
There were no immediate reports of injuries or damage.
The quake struck shortly after 8 p.m. local time and lasted more than 20 seconds, immediately cutting electrical energy and phone service in many areas of the Mexican capital.
The government's Notimex news agency said the quake had a magnitude of 7.6 and was centred near the Pacific Coast in the area of Colima state.
National civil defence chief Carmen Segura told local news media there were no immediate reports of damage from that general region.
Quakes of at least magnitude seven are considered capable of inflicting heavy damage.
People rushed into the streets of Mexico City. Many barefoot or wrapped in blankets against the chill.
Police cars drove slowly through the streets of Mexico City with sirens flashing, telling people over loudspeakers: "Everything is OK."
(I just heard there has been some loss of life as more damage is discovered)
