May 2003 is memorable to me. I visited SA and since then i have promised myself to make another trip. SA is beautiful. JHB airport is massive given the size of our JKIA. I lived at Heathrow apartments and ofcourse it had counted blacks.
Heathrow is the kind of place where residents wear diamonds comfortably - i guess its quite safe given that it is 'rich'.
My best visit was Gold Reef City. I remember the ANACONDA. It was my first time on the roller coaster and it was terrifying! But TOWER OF TERROR made my day. At one time i thought i was dead. I do not think i would like to experience this again ever. It can only be done once i guess.
The shopping experience was great. Sandton City, Rosebank, City Gate and Broomer Market are amont the places i visited. Woolworths collections are much cheaper here than in Kenya.
Food was also much cheaper here than in Kenya. Accommodation too.
I went clubbing at Kilimanjaro. Fortunately on this day, I was not wearing my jeans. Dress code applys here. Ha given the relaxed mode we are here in Kenya as far as dressing is concerened.
Unfortunately, I did not visit Capetown and Durban. I can only imagine what i missed.
Next time you go on holiday, visit SA.

I don't know what it means otherwise wouldn't have asked... but on looking at the post again, it looks like Heathrow is the name of an apartment block.. I was confusing it with Heathrow airport...

I lived in SA for 6 years, went to all those place you mention, and indeed they are great. In SA you can get a much higher quality lifestyle, cheaper than in kenya. Woolworths, Edgars, truworths shops are like those indian shops in nairobi, there isn't anything special about them so things are much cheaper. However, don't forget that SA is just like kenya in many areas. There are townships, these are like Umoja, Kayole, Ololo, Jeri, they differ, some are good looking, but townships generally are at the bottom and almost exclusively house blacks. There are shacks... everywhere. Coloureds also have their own townships and Indians too lakini it is easy to see the difference. One area where Sa is way ahead is in their roads. A trip from Durban to capetown in a greyhound feels like flying except that it is between 24-27 hours. There is not a single pot-hole on the road. A buddy if mine came to visit and i showed him around. His comments were that if we are to get nai to look like some of this places, we would have to blow the place to level ground and start again.
