In preparation for a month's trip to Kenya this August, I need to speedily get to Eldoret from Nairobi as soon as I arrive on 1st August. Having investigated this some months ago on Mambogani, it was suggested by Mambo that flying would be the most logical means of transportation. I recently heard, however, that Eldoret airport had temporarily shut down so can anyone confirm if this is still the case?
Secondly, if an internal flight from Nairobi to Eldoret is a possibility, are there any websites or convenient ways to pre-book internal flights before I arrive at JKIA? Any further advice or details regarding internal flights in Kenya would be very helpful also vis-a-vis weight restrictions, reliability etc.

KQ has just restarted Eldoret - Nairobi flights. That said, you can go much cheaper by road in less than five hours. The flying coffins now all have seatbelts and you get a comfortable seat nowadays as they are not allowed to jam passengers in there like sardines. I understand the main road is very bad between Burnt Forest and Nakuru so you'd want to take the transport that that goes via Eldama Ravine instead - a much better road and a fantastic drive; make sure you sit on the left side of the vehicle for spectacular views down the Kerio escarpment.

Am curious about travel from Nairobi to Masai Mara.
My lady does not know the way and suggested flying.
If ground is cheaper, how do I do that ?
Ideas?
