As some of you know, I'll be in Kenya pretty soon. I would like to take part in some fishing while I'm there. Yes, there may be arguing and bickering about my taking the time to do this. However, I am very interested in finding some place to go fishing. So, if anyone can advise me on where to go to perform this rewarding activity, please let me know.

Thanks!

trout fishing in the Aberdares, Mt Kenya etc... The Equatorial Trout of Lake Alice, Mount Kenya

there's plenty of fishing on Lake Victoria, Rusinga Island caters to upmarket fishing safaris

plenty of deep sea fishing on the coast obviously...

Great idea to go fishing, there are some wonderful places to fish in Kenya, as Mambo states Rusinga Island is superb, as is Baringo. Also try and get to Lake Naivasha, or alternatively go big game fishing at Watamu. Enjoy!!!

Thank you. I appreciate the suggestions.

Some one should warn the fish. Here I come!

Kenya is a huge fishing destination. For Big Game Fishing (especially Marlin, Sailfish and Barracuda) go to Hemingways at Watamu - its the major centre for that in the region. Great experience as well, even if you catch nothing (which is unlikely). Naro Moru River Lodge (part of Alliance Hotels) organises fly fishing and trout fishing expeditions on Mt Kenya and in the Aberdares. There is also good fishing at Naivasha - Birches Campsite is a cheap place to get a boat - beware of hippos. Lake Victoria, Baringo, and plenty of others are also good options. One word of advice - you need to get a fishing licence - costs about $10 available at the Department of Fisheries next door to the National Museum in Nairobi.

Wonderful information.
Thanks, O.

One note on the fishing license, make sure that you are actually given the license itself, not just the receipt to prove that you have bought one, as you can still be prosecuted. As happen to a friend of mine in Naivasha recently.

I can see it now..... me, on the phone calling family back home, "Yeah, I'm in jail here in Kenya. Can you wire me some money so I can pay the fines and buy another fishing liscense? Please?...... No? Stay here?!? What?....... but dad, I'm in jail! What lesson will this teach me? <click> "

hey green, when do you go? Are you there in september?

You asked for fishing. Hmmm, just a bit too early, you could book it with me in a while!

How and what, I let it know here at Mambogani.com!

(btw Mambo, I gave the link of your site too many people, I hope they visit!)

Bonga,

Am going next month, (july).

I am going to wing it, me thinks. Not going to book anything until I get there, or just show up. I don't want the fish to hear about me coming. I want to surprise them.
