I am somewhat perturbed with Priceline.com.
I have been searching for the lowest fare for a while now. Big mistake. The prices just keep going up. The last lowest fare I found was on Priceline.com. I decided to go on and get it over with. I tried to "Name Your Own Price" a multitude of times over the span of a few days. I found my self within a few monetary units of what they were offering. Well, none of the attempts to "Name Your Own Price" were successful. I am beginning to think it is a ploy. I decided to go ahead and purchase one of the two lowest fares they offered without naming my own price, because it does not work anyway.
The first attempt was was thwarted due to conflict between my bank's policy and Priceline's policy. My second attempt was done in for the same reason. The third attempt was shot down because "airline availability changes every second." The fourth attempt was killed for the same reason, as were the fifth and sixth. By the time I got around to making a seventh attempt, the price had come up quite a bit. Several hundred monetary units, as a matter of fact. There goes that "40%" savings they brag so much about.
The result is: I got a comparable price from Priceline as I would have received had I paid a travel agent to do the work for me. That makes a lot of sense.
Before I got as far as Priceline, I also tried Hotwire and a multitude of others.

Hotwire is a joke. I guess they can not find flights to and from Kenya during the two month period I was looking at. Someone needs to tell them that the planes do not stop flying during that time.

I think the travel industry is a huge ripoff, pocket gouging, greedy bunch.
I tried calling travel agents. Most never got back in touch with me. The ones that did call back, gave me huge prices. Kinda like I paid to Priceline.
It must be nice to be in a business where you do not have to return phone calls, answer emails, etc, and still make money.

I am in the wrong business. I need to become a travel agent or have my own online travel agency to steal money the legal way.

They suck. Without exception.
(not to include former travel business people, you know who you are)

So, since I do not have any money now, I am taking suggestions regarding good ways to get by cheap while there. Like: How the hell am I going to eat.
Maybe I should fatten up before I go....
