I've desperately searched for a cheap ticket from Buffalo to Boston but to no avail. Everything I find is above $300 and I need to get to Boston in order to connect to my flight to Kenya. I've tried Cheaptickets, Travelocity, StudentUniverse and even the airlines' websites themselves. Nothing.
Anyone know of another good travel site? My intended travel date is May 10th. Thanks.

Kiaraho. I live in Buffalo, too. Try Jet Blue -- should be about $99.

Oops, doesn't appear to fly to Boston. Airtran does. I tried to use their website but they have nothing available, but it may not be posted yet so give them a call: 1-800-247-8726.

I'm reserving Amtrak as a last ditch option, but damn that's going to be one hell of journey.

Have you tried calling some of the last minute ticket agencies. not the airlines they are expensive...but discount flights etc.. I know of EXPEDIA in Canada but AMTRAK might be your most viable solution.....

Where can I find those last minute travel agencies?

If i'm not mistaken the Buffalo Evening News has a travel section am I right?
There should be listings in there or tomorrow I usually pick up the Toronto Star which has a very large section. I do know they have discount travel clubs . last minute vacations flights etc..
I'll check my phone book here as well it might work out less to catch a flight from Canada either Toronto or Hamilton.. might be some savings... I'll check it out and see what's available..and get back to you later tonight or leave the info in your PM box...

I checked a few of the various Canadian sites flying from Toronto and the least expensive was $316.00 + taxes.
I know they advertise low prices but there is a catch somewhere in between. Whether it's departure dates the colour of socks you wear
I'll call a place that I dealt with previously. It's in Fort Erie so it's not a major drive. Sometimes the smaller agencies have an answer in their pockets too.
but if worse comes to worse. taking a train relaxing doesn't sound half bad...

Why is it that airlines like Southwest and Airtran have such cheap flights, but rarely fly to cities in the norteast? Curses!!!

I don't understand why you bought a ticket departing from Boston if you're in Buffalo?? You should have been able to get a BUF-BOS sector on the same ticket as your flight out of the US - and it shouldn't have cost you too much more. Most of the major carriers would be able to do this as they route their passengers via their hubs, and I think AA have Boston as one of their hubs, therefore you should have been able to get a ticket ex BUF through to London. Its only when you try to purchase separate domestic sectors that prices can be steep, esp if none of the low cost airlines fly it.
I used to work as a travel agent so I know a bit about how the US airlines work.

Mr. Mambo,
You were a travel agent? You should not have said that. I have this thing about travel agents now. They have been giving me the run around. Why does a ticket cost twice as much in one month as compared to another? Is it just based on profit/greed?

- good question and what about these seat sales that never seem to materialize apart from paying more in the end ..?

seasonality and demand, of course

oh they're definitely real - you need to be flexible about travel dates, you've got to look out for deals and book them as soon as they're made available, and know that only a handful of seats are at the lowest price...

Mr. Mambo,
Maybe you could have a little travel section here and make some extra cash while catering to those traveling to and from and about Kenya.

That being the case only a handful is the key word then ! however when being flexible isn't a problem , still doesn't mean you will get a seat..even if you called 10 minutes upon availability..
