Hawajambo, I have returned from kenya.
I have a lot to do ofcourse, as soon as have the time I'll write down here what we have been doing. Anyway, this site has been promoted ofcourse!!
It's terribly cold at home, and I really was sorry to leave. So good to see everybody again!
We will return, again, in september.

aaaaallllrighty than,

the first few days we relaxed and made some visits in Ukunda and to the personell in the hotel . It felt as if we were home again!
We also went to Colobus Trust, and they were reorganising the whole thing. Good to see. And some Wabega were born.
We made a lot of kids happy with clothes and ofcourse SWEETS!
We went to 2 villages with the stuff.

We rented a car, drove left for most of the time..., and went to Ukunda by car to a liquir store for some Kenya Cane. ( yummy!)

We went to Kinondo Kwetu ( nearby) to the beach and had a great BBQ with some friends. And Kenya Cane...

Shimba Hills again...Drinks at Mr. T, Galu beach.

The rally was going on on that day, so that was quiet nice to see.

Than Monica took care of our safari.
We had an absolutely great time.
We flew from Mombasa to Nairobi, and first visited Samburu, and the Samburu Serena Lodge. Ofcourse SUPER. We were lucky with the animals. We finally found 2 cheetahs, some rhinos, giraffe's, etc.

From Samburu we drove all the way to lake Nakuru. The sight of the flamingo's immediatly made me cry. So beautiful, it was like a dream.
We stood in front of rhino's, like 10 meters from them.
In the Lake Nakuru Lodge the personell did a little show. Their voices were so great! Especially the NON-tourist-songs we liked the most. I can't hear any more Jambo Bwana....

It was good to see the farmers on our way. ( where Kibaki comes from) These people do rather good. It looked really organised over there.

From Nakuru we drove all the way to Masai Mara. What a terrible road it is over there....nearby Narok it was so terrible. And that without shock-absorbers and a big belly because I needed a bathroom REAL BAD!... hihi.gif
We were ofcourse blown away by the view from the serena lodge, and the temperature at night was for us really good.

BUT believe it or not. Masai Mara was EMPTY! huh.gif
All the animals had left. The gras was too green, and too long, and we drove and drove for hundreds of kilometers, but NO animals!! At the border with Tanzania's serengeti we saw more animals, but ofcourse we were not allowed to pass...
We were not lucky there.

BUT: we luckily saw a cheetah with 4 cubs, she made the whole day okay...

The second day we saw 3 sleepy lions, and lateron 4 lions with 3 cubs. so in spite of all, they made everything okay.

Our return to Nairobi was hectic. Because of the constitution-story there were riots on the same street as Carnivore Restaurant, so we did not go there ofcourse. I think Nairobi is a very hectic, and rather unsafe city. Correct me if I'm wrong, but the differences between rich and poor were so big. I saw a lot of kids, high on glue and stuff.
Anyway, we had a great dinner at this very big place, also a club, nearby the airport. We felt very welcome there.

The 20th, on my birthday, the humidity was so high and it was SO hot, we could not do anything. It was extreme.
I had a great birthday at Josephs place on Galu.(restaurant, I can't remember the name)

We really enjoyed it again, and we are returning in september.

This has become a chaotic story, but I have to say, I am really tired now. My clock is still in Kenya-life.

...That means I'm gtting tired at 9 in the evening and in the morning I wake up at six or something....

Anyway, I hope the constitution is pulling through. We spoke to a lot of Kenyans about it, and they are afraid they go back to zero if this is not pulled through.

BTW, I did not find a Vitoria...or a bungo...but I saw a dikdik for the first time!
hihi.gif

...and I just wanna go BACK.... bowdown.gif

I just feel so good over there!
Mambo
you went in the rainy season to the Mara! Thats why its all green and long grass, the animals disperse all over the place. Besides, it sounds like you drove around yourself? You didn't have a guide there...?
bonga
The rain-season has not really started yet, so also every african was surprised that the grass was so green so early. Last year in this period we had far more rain than now. It was really hot this time. The day of our departure it rained a lot in Mombasa.

We had a guide ofcourse! Especially in Nairobi I was happy with him!
We only rented a car for the short parts from the hotel to friends, and Ukunda. We drove a little on the road to Tanzania.
For us is extra hard, we have to ride on the left...so visiting mombasa is on for the next time. We first had to get used to driving left.

In Ukunda they were surprised what the Wazungu were doing on their own there...
But in that place we feel okay though.
