I plan on taking a honeymoon in Mombasa after getting married in Kapsapbet. I would appreciate some suggestions if anyone has any. I have previously read the post about Mombasa food and have made notes. Anything else that is a must while there? I may be there about a week.
Mambo
Have you already booked your hotel? The best beach is definitely Diani on the south coast, so if I were you, this is where I'd be heading. You can then spend a day in Mombasa sampling all that food biggrin.gif

Also highly recommended is a one night stay at Shimba Lodge in the Shimba Hills Reserve (which is also on the south coast so will be convenient to get to from your hotel). The lodge is built like a tree hotel and its beautifully built into the forest. You should be able to get a good package deal that combines a stay in the reserve with a beach hotel. If you don't want to stay at the lodge, definitely do lunch and an evening game drive. It has sable antelope, the only place in Kenya you can see them. And you might get lucky like I did and see a leopard (actually on a game drive, but they also bait leopards if you're staying at the lodge)!

I am sure the honeymoon is the focus of your attention but what are your arrangements in Kapsabet? I know the Nandi region very well and would be interested to find out what your plans are for Kapsabet. It's a beautiful part of the country. I am very envious and plan to propose to my wife (whoever she may be) at an amazing view point near a small village called Kapsimoto, Nandi Hills. I hope you have a terrific day. Great choice for the wedding.

I must tell you that I have never been to Kapsabet, or anywhere within Kenya. My fiance is from Kapsabet and part of the reason for marrying there is because I believe it necessary for me to meet her parents and family. This is of my choosing and it is very important to me. I have not heard too much about the area, but would like to hear more. As far as arrangements, I am clueless. It seems as though the fiance and family are taking care of all that, they told me to only worry about getting myself there. So I am.

By the way, I am open to suggestions/information reagarding the Nandi region as well. It would not hurt me to know as much as I can before arriving there.

Mambo,

Thanks for the suggestions! I have not booked the hotel yet, but will be leaning towards your suggestions. I have been gathering information about those spots.

mambo's tips are great, I've been there, and I suggest you just try!

The best hotel on diani is Soutern Palms, but it is too much wealth for me, honestly. A few friends had a great time there! I prefer Neptune paradise village, 3 to 4 stars, but nice personell, and the beach just as great as anywhere in diani!

Depends on your budget really, but if you've got some cash, check out the cream of the crop for a beach in Kenya:

or a little further down the coast:

Or witth your own personal butler above Ngorongoro Crater - this one is magic :

If you really have some serious cash to spend, send me a private message and I'll send you some Bill Gates type getaways.

Green,
Shimba Hiils is a great place. If you want to add some adventure, then go down sheldrick falls. The falls are not the biggest in the world, but its a great walk down to the falls, and they are very intimate.

While in South Coast (if you do go there), there's this great day trip, where they take you to see wild dolphins.(not always guaranteed though). There are 2 companies who do it. If you want to include snorkelling, then you can go with Dolphin dhows, or if you don't want to snorkell, then go with Funzi safaris. If you are a snorkelling fan, I would suggest you do it seperately on another day and go with funzi-it's absolutely amazing. You will be provided with the best lunch ever, on a private island. It doesn't get better than that....

If you do stay in a South Coast hotel, there are lots of nice places to dine out.

If you are interested, pm me and I can give you furthur details.

How intmate are these falls, if you know what I mean? (or the private island, for that matter?) hihi.gif Sounds interesting. My devious little mind is forming a plan.
humdul
Somehow I knew you would get that meaning-they are as intimate as you want them to be..... cool.gif But what I meant was that its a small place and you are quite close to the falls, plus there wont be many people, if any.... But , there is plenty of place for some you know what... if you know what i mean...... ignore.gif xyxthumbs.gif banana_1.gif

I wish someone would marry me so I can have a Mombasa honeymoon too hihi.gif tongue.gif

Humdul,

Thanks for the suggestion! Maybe I have a one track mind, but my little brain keeps going back to that each time I resume my planning for the honeymoon. Surely there must be a way to stop thinking about that......... Forget it, I will just keep planning on it..... biggrin.gif

Thanks.

Sooz,

There is a thread here for "hightech" dating. It seems to be acceptable now days.
