African wise leaders in Bonn.
Are they seeking for Christ?

“Knowledge is power.”
Africa is blessed with more educated men and women as we all know. Africa is equally blessed with people who can blame God for all our misfortunes.

But the Nigeria president was quick to point this out in Bonn on Sunday the 6th of November 2005, when he declared; “gone are the days when we blame slavery and colonialism for our misfortunes.”

This is a “great man” who is opportune to lead his country for the second time.
Experiences had shown him that we Africans need to be led by the west while we learn the arts of good governance and that was why he led African leaders to Bonn, in Germany, to plead with the German President Horst Köhler for “Real partnership” with Africa.

What is “real partnership?”

There have been a lot of partnerships between Africa and Europe even since the colonial era. The whole world witnessed the type of partnership that took place during the cold war. This is not what we are talking about here.

President Mbeki of South Africa was quick to point out that; “all previous partnerships had failed to yield results.” those partnerships failed because of lack of honesty and integrity among Africans. And to be honest what we need now is not bagful of more euros and debt forgveness.

One thing that our leaders need to bear in mind is that they can not fool the west with any form of pretense. They have to let the west know that we really need them to lead us for a period of time.
The type of partnership that is good for Africa at this time is a genuine invitation to the west to come and play leading roles in Africa and not the repetition of the old ones that failed to yield results.

For how long are we going to gamble with the future of our dear continent? The incidents taking place across Africa today is a clear indication that no system is working well. Everybody wants to get out of this continent in pursuits of better lives in the west. Even the leaders are not left behind. Most of them bought mansions in the west. They send their children and relatives to schools and hospitals in the west.

It is time for us to wake up to this reality. We need the hands of the experts from the west if we are to put things in order in Africa. If we want to stop the mass exodus of our great minds to the west. If we want Africa to develop. Deceits and arrogance will lead us to no where.

The recent initiative for “Real partnership” that opens in Berlin is not just for nothing but we do not need cosmetic partnership as it happened in the past. What we need is for the west to play leading roles in the governance of Africa.

We shall learn while they lead and show us how to manage our economy and put in place a genuine democracy.

Why can't we just humble ourselves and learn what we know nothing about. Do we know about good governance? If yes, what have we got to show for it since independence.

The white men are not Angels but they know a lot that we do not know. Forget about equality, even the gods are not equal, you can't compare a god that preaches forgiveness to a god that preaches terrorism. A student can not claim to be equal with his teacher while learning. You must humble yourself to your teacher and learn what you do not know. This is the simple thing we are talking about here. We are not talking about being slaves to the west. Learning and allowing the west to show us how to govern the best way do not make us the slaves of the west.

It is our hope that this historic visit of the “wise men” to Bonn on the 6th of November 2005 will mark the beginning of good things to happen to our dear continent.

The youths are watching with keen interest

Mokin.

Tinna,

Or whoever you are....you have a problem. Unfortunately, the answer to your problem is not in this forum. Believe what you want if it will make you feel better.

Juha kalulu!

Less corruption??? Eyecrazy.gif Depends on how you define corruption I guess birgits_scratch.gif

To quote my Congolese friend "We Africans need to stop dancing and partying every time we get together and start thinking."

You don't need the white man for that.

wolfman,

I am not sure what crack you and your buddy tinna have been smoking. It is certainly making you believe that white is pure and black is evil.

Come to think of it Hitler, Musolini, and all those despots that almost wiped Europe from the face of the earth were applying law and order in its purest form.

Inferiority complex indeed! Many Africans are throwing away their national identities, doing all they could, just to remain in Europe,Dead or alive. Those flocking to Europe in their thousands can not claim to be superior to their hosts.( Ask them what they are going through.) Why is Africa not a place for the rest of the world to come and seek for greener pastures? Simply because we ruin the system like Kibaki &co are busy doing. How many more people must Mugabe kill before we invite the UN to come and take over. Tell me in one simple way how we are superior to the white man. How could a begger be superior to the one he begs for food? birgits_scratch.gif

I do agree with your sentiments Tinna, we have to accept that in the system that we are trying to follow and perfect we are always going to look upon the westerners and we'll never ever beat them them in that.As we agreed that their way is the right defination of Maendeleo, then we have to wait for them to teach us.
If we were following our own definations of development I am sure we could face them and they could not compete, as it could be our originality. As for now we can only leed them in dombolo, and begging as it's become our nature. Lets open our eyes and stop deceiving ourselves that we are free. hiyo ni vako.
Remember even the laws still pledge to their culture, we still cannot have a parliament working without the presence of a mace.

Our old ways of sitting under a tree was real, their was a witness. Watu wana dedi ubao na 2million inabebwa kupeleka gold and ivory Britain. Tume tuna fofofo. We are in deep sleep,
Children in Mbita are almost being fed of dog food, and we can dare spend over ksh 2m, taking the mace for an international tour.

I wonder if that is the ransome that Gathogo is asking for to keep his evidence, that is understandable from my silly point of view otherwise this is a scandal right infront of us. But the problem with Kenyans for a scandal to be Billions of ksh must be involved, thats where we go wrong.

Are we scared that if we start looking at all this cases we might remain without "leaders" for all the ones we look upon are all tainted.

Their is no set plce to start fighting corruption, that one you are equiping them with other routes to follow. You suspect it in the middle, you cannot say that you have to finish with the top brass first.

When Kibaki has the ordecity to call us wapumbavu, he know quite well why, he has ascended to that position, knowing how to operate in the corrupt system from experience.

I don't believe that if we bring back the white man he will save our economy and bring back prosperity in Africa. First of all the white man is responsible for the unfair trade. For example farmers in Europe and America receive subsidies from their government so the end result is african farmers surfer more because they have to bear the cost of production alone and also the poor transportation systems increase their production cost.

I also blame the africans leaders for being selfish. Most africans leaders want to stay in their post forever for example Museveni of Uganda who hasn't produce any good idea to improve the economy in his own country. I think africans leaders should give other people who are willing and able to build a stronger economy a chance to do so.

We have a lot of educated people in Africa but we don't give them the chance or position in which they are capable and able to function with ease.
